About
In my early twenties, I studied with Don Stone, who was then living, painting and teaching in Rockport, MA. I loved his watercolors, his palette, and his style of teaching. I was a neophyte and had a lot to learn!
Over the past fifty years, while I raised my two daughters, Jessica Lamothe and Rachel May, I practiced dentistry full-time and occasionally took art classes at Montserrat, at the Rockport Art Association, and from private teachers. I learned Chinese brush painting and some oil painting, but I was always lured back to watercolors.
For me, art has been a “sometime” thing over the years. Recently, as dentistry winds down, I feel the pull back to watercoloring far more frequently. I love the feeling of spending a concentrated time focused on the challenge that each new project presents. And watercoloring is a constant challenge. It is both frustrating and yet thrilling when occasionally I create something that pleases.
It is a pleasure to share my work with you.
